So said Flextronics’ president of global services and software at the recent Gartner supply chain conference. He was referring to the emergence of the “Big Data”, the huge mass of information that has been created by the growth of trade over the internet and exemplified by reams of data gathered by social media sites such as Facebook and e-retailers such as Amazon. But how can goods manufacturers, retailers and their logistics providers harness and use that information to create better, more flexible supply chains?
