OMA Group appoints new managing director
The past five years have seen exponential growth of OMA Group’s business in ship agency, logistics and oil & gas support along the West African coast, culminating in the management buyout of the business in 2016.
To continue with this growth and to take the business forward into the next phase of development, the OMA board has appointed a new Managing Director and is delighted to announce the appointment of Gerrit van der Merwe as Managing Director, with immediate effect.
Gerrit joined the OMA Group a year ago as Group Financial Director and was previously with first class global player GAC as Regional Business Controller based in Cape Town.
Gerrit van der Merwe commented: “I am honoured and excited to start a new challenge within OMA Group and look forward to working with the OMA family to further develop and improve the service delivery to our existing and future customers.  I am fortunate to be joining such a respected company that prides itself on top quality service delivery, strong stakeholder relationships and conducting business in a compliant and ethical way.”
New brand identity & website

Last year witnessed the successful completion of the OMA Group management buyout.  Today the OMA Group directors are delighted to announce the launch of a new brand identity and website.
The new identity was developed in response to the buyout and the growth OMA Group has seen over the last few years.  OMA’s footprint has grown from a small office in Lomé to a physical presence along most of the West African coast, and an expansion of their core business into three key sectors – Ship agency, Logistics and Oil & Gas.
The new brand has been developed to reflect that growth and the African roots of the Group.  The logo has been developed by combining two West African Adinkra symbols [Akoma Ntoso and Fihankra], and the use of key colours to represent OMA’s core business areas [shipping, logistics, oil & gas] along with new typefaces and layouts complete the look.
The cornerstone of the launch is the OMA website at www.omagroup.com.  It’s a bright, clean, modern and easy-to-navigate site that has been designed with customers in mind, and provides plenty of useful content for companies doing business in the region.
The website is live now and the new branding will be rolled out over the next 6-8 weeks.
