Well, the airlines have probably already felt this trend, but it would seem that everyone agrees – modal shift is here to stay. This South China Morning Post article reveals that both Kuehne + Nagel and Ceva think the switch to sea freight marks structural change  – and, sadly for the air freight industry, it’s the high yield traffic that’s moving over. The pharmaceutical industry has been at the ‘forefront’ of change, while high-tech manufacturers aim to convert over 50% of notebook shipments to ocean.
