It’s an ambitious plan, but SF Express is an ambitious company. It has announced plans to build Asia’s largest air cargo hub, in Ezhou, in China’s Hubei province. The airline says it will be the fourth-busiest airport in the world and handle 2.6m tonnes of freight a year by 2025. The project is the result of a joint venture between SF Express division, SF Airport Investment and China VAST Industrial Urban Development Company. The hub will be able to serve areas accounting for 80% of the country’s GDP within two hours, including major cities such as Beijing and Shanghai.
