Naha Airport in Okinawa is one of the more interesting cargo hubs, being part of the Okinawa International Logistics Hub, and an overnight cargo hub for ANA Cargo. Serving most major Asian cities within a four-hour flight, it is looking to expand its freight offerings, particularly if the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal goes ahead. The plan has been boosted by ANA Cargo’s encouragement to customers to open distribution centres there – and the logistics centre now stocks some 130,000 manufacturing parts for some 4,000 precision instruments, ready for shipment. It is looking at opening repair centres, and the airport is building a second runway. A destination to watch.
