Maersk’s adoption of social media platforms has won its admirers from the blogosphere, few of whom had ever heard of the company before it launched its Facebook page and began encouraging its employees to blog, tweet and upload photos. What surprised social media types most was the enormous growth in ‘likes’ and ‘followers’ that Maersk attracted in a relatively short space of time, and they seized upon it as further evidence of the power of social media.
