The North Europe-Asia eastbound container capacity crunch shows no sign of abating. In a series of three releases, Mediterranean Shipping Co has announced new surcharges and conditions for waste and recycling shippers in Europe, including a reduction in free container detention time in Asia; new overweight surcharges; and a new load terminal handling charge. According to MSC they are intended to increase transparency and satisfy “soaring demand for equipment in Asia”.
