China's African ties leave Europe and the US out in the cold

China’s engagement with Africa is well known. But from this year, China will become the continent’s biggest export destination. Currently one fifth of Africa’s trade is with China, and one million Chinese now live there. This rapid growth in trade – which has risen 28% so far this year – will leave the traditional trading partners of Europe and the US out in the cold.
