New year, old name. Maersk has revived its original SeaLand brand to serve its intra-Americas customers as an independent company. Acquired by Maersk in 1999, Sea-Land Services was dropped as a brand in 1999, but customers continued to use the name anyway. The new company, which will launch on January 1 next year, will mimic the structure of Maersk’s other intra-regional services in Asia and Europe, and will focus on serving smaller customers, with headquarters in the US.
