Maersk is trying to boost its position further by suggesting that smaller carriers pull out of the market. In an interview with the Wall St Journal, analysed here by Drewry, Group CEO Nils Andersen said that it “defies logic” for lines with 3-5% of the market to continue to invest. Drewry points out that broadly speaking, this is almost every top 20 carrier except Maersk, MSC and CMA CGM.
