Brazilian transport infrastructure leaves much to be desired, according to The Economist. While the government has announced plans to auction road, rail, airports and ports off, the article warns that many of Brazil’s infrastructure plans have failed ‘to leave the drawing board’, while a consultancy has pinpointed low productivity, regulatory uncertainty and confusing management structures as barriers to improving the ports. But while it costs twice the OECD average to import a container into Brazil, something needs to change.
