EU sets out plans for safer and more environmentally friendly trucks

The European Commission plans to increase the efficiency of new trucks with aerodynamic designs, which could cut fuel burn by 7 to 10%, it claims. The proposals need to be signed into law by the European Parliament and member states, but could see new lorries on the roads from 2018.
