Wayfair Sean Halligan

Wayfair, home furnishing’s answer to Amazon, has appointed Sean Halligan (above) as its chief global supply chain officer.

Mr Halligan, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the supply chain, working for blue-chip shippers including Cardinal Health, Nike and Target, will “drive the strategic supply chain initiatives that enable Wayfair to deliver an exceptional shopping experience and the ongoing expansion of Wayfair’s fulfilment centre and delivery network and the development of the company’s global freight network”.

Wayfair chief operating officer Thomas Netzer said: “We are delighted to welcome Sean to the operations leadership team as we rapidly expand and strengthen our capabilities across our end-to-end, global logistics network.

“Sean’s exceptional leadership track record and deep operations expertise, spanning distribution, transport, supply chain systems and automation, strongly position him to lead Wayfair’s supply chain team.”

His appointment comes in the wake of Wayfair’s recent hires of veteran logistics executives Pete Mento and Kenneth Sine, as it expands into new markets and the physical store segment – with the B2C omni-channel furniture supply chain facing its own particular challenges and dynamics, according to a recent Loadstar Premium analysis.

Mr Halligan added: “The strength of Wayfair’s global supply chain drives a best-in-class experience for its customers and I look forward to working with this talented team to continuously improve and enhance the customer experience through operations expertise and innovation.”
