UPS has enjoyed a “significant” rise in profits as it managed a good performance in the peak season – in contrast to previous years. Revenue in the quarter rose 1% to $16.1bn from $15.9bn a year earlier, while on a currency neutral basis it rose 2.4%. It made 1.8% more package deliveries in the fourth quarter, over 2015. Its supply chain and freight division profit saw a rise of 11% to $199m. Europe led the way in helping the company achieve an operating profit of $2.2bn in 2015.
