In its draft national policy statement (NPS) on the addition of a third runway at London Heathrow, the UK government has told the airport operator that it must improve domestic service and offset the social impact of the extension if it wants planning permission. Air Transport World says yesterday’s publishing of the NPS coincided with the launch of an airspace and noise consultation that would aim to optimise UK airport movements. Heathrow is expected to submit a final proposal for a development consent order in the summer of 2019.
