DVZ radar: DHL Express awaits the next e-commerce star
It is all about networking
A massive row has broken out between SF Express and Cainiao Networks, Alibaba’s logistics arm, after the former last week refused “to share information on orders processed over its own separate network of package drop-off and pickup stations mostly in residential buildings”, according to this report from Chinese business publications Caixin. Previously, SF had shared a range of data about shipments that were not placed on Alibaba, and in response to its refusal Cainiao has removed SF from its list of delivery companies for merchants selling goods through Taobao and Tmall, but the spat could lead to similar refusals from other delivery firms uncomfortable about the amount of data the e-commerce giant requests from them.
