According to non-profit industry organisation Reshoring Initiative, around 50,000 jobs in Asia have moved back to the US in the last three years. This might not be a large figure in itself, given the size of the US labour market, but it does represent 10% of the jobs created in manufacturing during that period. While the cost differential between North America and Asia is declining, due to escalating transport costs and higher labour costs in Asia, increasing productivity at US production facilities is another key element.
