Philip Mathews has joined Chapman Freeborn in the newly created role of chief commercial officer.
Mr Mathews spent 14 years at rival broker Air Partner and was appointed president of its US operations in 2003. He said Chapman’s expansion into new markets and future plans excited him.
Mr Mathews will join Chapman’s board, alongside chief executive Russi Batliwala, chief operating officer Shahe Ouzounian, and chief financial officer Peter Joarder.
Mr Batliwala said: “Phil has an extraordinary amount of experience in the charter industry, with an impressive record of delivering results in diverse markets.
“He will play a central role in managing the ongoing commercial performance of Chapman Freeborn and its subsidiary companies.”
The broker has recently undergone a few changes, with founder Chris Chapman and several of the US team launching a US operation for leasing and brokerage company Air X. This announcement will help draw a line under it.
