Fresh from an apparent truce with the Chinese over the trade war on the transpacific – reports suggest US and Chinese officials are preparing to sit down for new negotiations while Trump says he won’t be pressing for any further tariffs – the US president has once more turned his duty gun on Europe. The Guardian reports that the US government yesterday unveiled a new list of an 89 exports from Europe to the US, including cheese, scotch whisky and olives, that could be subject to fresh tariffs amounting to $4bn.
