The turnaround at Schiphol, which appeared to see KLM bow to Russian pressure to return AirBridgeCargo’s slots, has worked out well for some. The threat to jobs at Menzies, where 101 cargo jobs were cut after the airport announced freighter slot reductions, is over. Menzies World Cargo has reinstated the jobs, according to local media.. Unions, however, continued to call for the ‘local rule’ to be implemented which would help other freighter operators regain slots. Some 70,000 jobs around Schiphol are thought to rely on air cargo.
