Wilhelmshaven, March 7th 2018 – The Wilhelmshaven-based service company Jade-Dienst GmbH is investing in a new branch in the Wilhelmshaven Freight Village directly adjacent to the Container Terminal. A 1,000 m² warehouse and a handling shed for containers, together with outdoor facilities and parking spaces, will be ready for use by August 2018 on the plot covering 1.1 hectares. For services involving mooring at the Container Terminal, at the sea lock, in the inner harbour and at the jetties, Jade-Dienst will be the sole concession holder at JadeWeserPort in future, and provide these services directly from its new branch at the Freight Village.

The second phase of the site development involves the construction by April 2019 of an office building with the operations centre, as well as offices and communal rooms. The associated leasehold contract with Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort-Marketing GmbH & Co. KG was signed by Jade-Dienst on 6 March. Another 2.4 hectare plot in the Freight Village has been reserved. The total investment for the construction of the new company site – to enable the business to expand its value chain with respect to goods storage, transport and handling, as well as disposal services – will be around EURO 1.5 million.

Dr. Bernd Althusmann, Minister of Economic Affairs, Employment, Transport and Digitalisation of Lower Saxony says: “The decision by Jade-Dienst to set up a new operational base in the Freight Village continues the excellent marketing of commercial plots at JadeWeserPort. The planned investment in the project also confirms what the growing figures for the number of handled containers, and the rising interest expressed by container line shipping companies in our deep-sea port, have already expressed: JadeWeserPort is itself charting a very good course.“
