February 20, 2018 at 7:58 pmFinallly someone brave and wise enough to return to what was normal roundvoyage time before the ‘slow steaming’ days and I am waiting with interest the intinerary and hub ports. This is a customer friendly move and one can only hope HMM may achieve premium rates for a premium service. Eight vessels on a weekly schedule will offer a 56-day roundtrip – 21 (!) days faster and three vessels less compared to a slow service of an eleven-vessel schedule of 77 days.
I am convinced that customers are prepared to pay premium rates for a premium service that hopefully cover the higher bunker costs.
This is the most positive thing that happens to the Asia-Europe route for many years. No one of the others have been brave enough. They have all waited for the leader to take the first step….although they knew it was much needed.
Good luck HMM !
