The port of Rotterdam has re-organised its container team after appointing Hans Nagtegaal as its new head of containers, with previous incumbent Joyce Bliek moved into a new position to “focus on improving and streamlining digital communication and the exchange of information in the supply chain”.
The 49-year old Mr Nagtegaal was director of NileDutch Africa Line, having previously served in management positions with P&O Nedlloyd in China and other locations, which was followed by a stint with Safmarine.
Rotterdam Port Authority said that the new role for Ms Bliek has been created to tackle the supply chains congestion issues that have reared their head over the last couple of years due to peaking volumes and fragmented information through the supply chain.
“Improving the supply chain is one of the spearheads of Port Authority policy and Joyce Bliek will flesh this out, in conjunction with [Rotterdam’s port community system] Portbase,” it said.
