According to electric vehicle trade publication Electrek, the largest order for Tesla’s new electric truck has been placed by drinks giant PepsiCo, in a deal that could be worth $15m-$20m. Recorded “reservations” of new Semis are now around 300, according to analysts and news organisations, while some believe that if unannounced orders are included, the number could be as high as 1,200. Meanwhile, PepsiCo appears to be planning to use the vehicles “for shipments of snack foods and beverages between manufacturing and distribution facilities and retailers within the 500-mile range promised by Tesla chief executive Elon Musk”.
