It looks – initially at least – as if regulatory authorities are not going to acquiesce to IATA’s proposal to drop the 80:20 slot rule over coronavirus. IATA called for a suspension so that carriers which fail to provide scheduled services as per their slot requirements won’t forfeit them next season under the ‘use it or lose it’ rules. But the European Commission, along with others, has said it is too early to suspend the rules, and that any individual cases would be looked at separately anyway, reports Aviation Week.
