Cheers: Belgian beer train saves 5,000 lorry miles a year

Some 5,000 lorry miles a year are set to be removed from Belgian roads with the launch of a ‘beer train’ pilot scheme. Rail freight operator has commenced operations of a three-times-a-week brewery-to-supplier rail service, transporting “thousands of litres” of Jupiler beer from the Anheuser-Busch InBev brewery near Liege to a wholesaler just outside Brussels.
