Eddie Aston ceva

Ceva Logistics has appointed Eddie Aston to head its UK, Ireland and Nordics (UKIN) operation as managing director.

Mr Aston brings more than two decades of supply chain experience to the company, with spells at some of the biggest operators.

In the 1990s he worked for both Booker and Wincanton in general manager roles, before going on to spend 14 years at DHL across a variety of departments.

Then, in 2014 he moved out of the logistics sphere to join G4S as group chief operating officer and chief executive for the UK and Ireland.

Just over 12 months later he stepped down from his stint there to take up the reins of UK managing director for commercial van hire company Northgate.

Based out of Ceva’s UKIN cluster head office in the Midlands, Mr Aston succeeds Michael O’Donoghue who has been promoted to head of Ceva’s North America cluster.

Mr Aston said: “Having been away from logistics for a few years I have watched the progress that Ceva has already made and it was top of the list of places I wanted to work.

“We now need to build on this tremendous success and press on with next phase of the UKIN cluster’s growth.”

Chief executive Xavier Urbain said he “warmly” welcomed Mr Aston, describing him as “such an experienced professional”.

“His commercial business acumen and proven track record make him the ideal individual to lead the UKIN into the next phase of their growth plans,” added Mr Urbain.

“I also want to thank Michael for the excellent results he has delivered in UKIN.”
