Eleven major cargo airlines facing combined fines of €776m are seeking an annulment of a decision concerning cartel behaviour by the European Commission. If they win, it could lead to the fines being quashed or reduced.

The airlines were found to have operated a cargo cartel between 1991 and 2006 and were fined in 2010. But in 2015, the court annulled the decision, owing to a procedural error. However, it did not rule on the existence of the cartel. The commission then re-adopted its first ruling in March, which the carriers appealed at the end of May.

The commission has revealed the appeals in its most recently published official journal. You can find the details here.
