Brazil hit by massive contaminated meat scandal

Here’s an outlier that we predict is going to undermine confidence in global perishable supply chains. Brazilian police have issued around 30 arrest warrants and are investigating the country’s largest meat producers – JBS and BRF among them – which are alleged to have bribed health quality control inspectors to pass contaminated meat for export. Some of it has entered Wal-Mart’s supply chain, according to investigators, who also claim that three BRF shipments with salmonella-infected meat are currently en route to Europe.
