If you ever wanted to know anything about logistics into, out of, or through Alaska – the shortest flight path from the US to Asia – this is the article for you. Barge and air are the main services, as only 31% of the state’s roads are paved. There are some distinct challenges – a difficult backhaul market, severe weather and poor shipment visibility. But with a bustling e-commerce market, a lot of seafood exports, which are popular with China, and an abundance of raw materials, there is a lot of logistics going on.
