Despite the huge advantages of the Single European Sky – which will see emissions cut by 10%, air traffic control costs halved and increased safety – perhaps not surprisingly air traffic controllers are not happy. As a result, they are on strike in France until Thursday, leading to 1,800 flights being cancelled today. It is expected that other European countries will suffer ATC strikes, while in France, the railways and postal services are also stopping on Thursday.
