Maersk chief digital officer Ibrahim Gokcen has quit the container line to take up a post at a US company. He will be replaced by Adam Banks (pictured)
The carrier confirmed in a statement to The Loadstar: “While planning how to best organise Maersk’s IT and digital functions, Ibrahim Gokcen was approached for a role in the United States and decided to leave Maersk.
“Ibrahim successfully established and developed Maersk’s digital function, which will continue to support our transformation.”
Mr Banks has been with the carrier since 2015, when he joined as VP for simplification before taking over as chief information officer last January. Prior to that he spent almost two decades at Visa.
“Having established a mature digital capability, Maersk is bringing its digital and IT capabilities together in one function to ensure a unified approach going forward,” the statement added.
